We Refuel Your Life

Handy Mart Community Involvement

Handy Mart strives to make a difference in every community where our stores and home office are located. Our commitment to making a difference is evident through the many local and national fundraising programs that Handy Mart participates in each year. Whether it is donating supplies to youth sports events or by volunteering our time in raising money for special programs, Handy Mart believes that without strong community ties, we have no future.

American Cancer Society
Relay for Life and Handy Mart

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in America. Odds are that everyone can name someone who has been affected by this dreaded disease. The Handy Mart/Pope Transport Relay for Life team is certainly doing its part to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. Over the past four years the team efforts and amounts of money raised have grown for this wonderful cause to over $88,000. In 2007, Handy Mart offered to all customers the ability to donate to Relay for Life by purchasing a Handy Mart gift card. For every Handy Mart gift card purchased, 1% will be donated to Relay for Life (up to a $20,000 annual amount).

Handy Mart Supports MDA in Defeating Neuromuscular Disease

Each year during the month of March, all Handy Mart locations participate in the Muscular Dystrophy Association Shamrock campaign. Shamrocks are offered at all Handy Mart locations for $1 and $5 to allow our customers and vendors to be a part of defeating neuromuscular disease. Dollars raised support MDA programs in research and health care services that provide help and hope to families affected by neuromuscular diseases. With the support of our customers and vendors, Handy Mart has sent over $93,000.00 to MDA in support of their efforts.

Handy Mart joins St. Jude to
Find a Cure

During the month of October, Handy Mart, along with thousands of retailers, unite to help fight childhood cancer through the St. Jude Halloween promotion. During the month-long promotion, employees at Handy Mart ask our patrons to make a $1 donation to St. Jude to join in the fight against catastrophic childhood diseases. In return for the contribution, the donors have the opportunity to write their names on pumpkin-themed pinups, which are displayed through Halloween. Through the generous donations of our customers, Handy Mart has sent over $31,300 to St. Jude to help find a cure.

Join the Victory Junction Gang

In 2006, Handy Mart partnered with the North Carolina Association of Convenience Stores to help the Victory Junction Gang by offering our customers the opportunity to purchase a Heart Pinup for $1. The Victory Junction Gang helps enrich the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun, and empowering, in a safe and medically sound environment. With the generous support of our customers, Handy Mart was able to send over $8000 to help support this campaign.
