CRAVEN COUNTY MAN CLAIMS $1 MILLION PRIZE
ON “$200 MILLION EXTRAVAGANZA” GAME
RALEIGH-North Carolina has another $1 million lottery winner! Toby Eason of Vanceboro celebrated with North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) officials earlier today at the site of his lucky purchase.
Eason says he bought a few of the “$200 Million Extravaganza” tickets and scratched them all at once. He won $20 on the first few, and then scratched off the last ticket and saw that it revealed $1 million as the prize.
“I did a triple-take,” Eason said. “I about passed out!”
Eason said he had the retailer where he’d originally purchased the tickets—the Handy Mart on Highway 43 in Vanceboro—scan the ticket to see if it was really a winner. It was, and Eason is now the second $1 million prize winner on the “$200 Million Extravaganza” game.
The $1 million prize is paid in 20 annual installments of $50,000 (less taxes). Eason has already received his first check, which was $34,006 after taxes. When he claimed his prize, he said he wasn’t sure what he would do with his winnings other than put his check in the bank.
With the overall chance of winning being 1 in 2.65, the “$200 Million Extravaganza” instant scratch-off game was launched with five top prizes of $3 million and 10 prizes of
$1 million. Of those prizes, four $3 million and eight $1 million prizes remain. The
$3 million prize is paid in 20 annual installments of $150,000 (minus taxes). The game also has hundreds of thousands of other prizes ranging from $20 to $100,000.
